Floor Grinding

Floor grinding is the foundation of every concrete surface project we take on, and it is also a standalone service for slabs that need material removed, leveled, or stripped before anything else can be done. If you have a garage, basement, or commercial slab with old paint, a failed coating, high spots, surface scaling, or contamination from oil and chemicals, grinding is where the correction starts.

Xtreme Coatings uses dustless diamond grinding equipment on every project. The dustless system captures concrete particulate at the source rather than letting it spread through the space, which matters in occupied homes, active commercial buildings, and any environment where air quality is a concern. It also produces a cleaner, more consistent surface profile than wet grinding methods.

Diamond grinding cuts into the top layer of the slab to expose clean, sound concrete below. That exposed surface has the mechanical profile needed for coatings to bond properly, for polishing compounds to cut evenly, and for repair materials to adhere at depth rather than just sitting on top of a contaminated surface.

Concrete Floor Prep

Proper concrete floor prep is the single most important factor in how long any surface treatment lasts. Concrete Floor Polishing

Polished concrete is a finished floor surface produced by mechanically grinding and refining the slab through a sequence of progressively finer diamond tooling until the surface reaches the desired sheen level. The result is a hard, seamless, low-maintenance floor that reflects light, resists surface abrasion, and does not require coatings or sealers to maintain its finish over time.

Polished concrete works well in commercial spaces, retail floors, warehouses, showrooms, and residential interiors where a clean, minimal, durable surface is the goal. It is also one of the most cost-effective long-term flooring options available because there is no coating to reapply and no finish to strip and redo on a regular cycle.

Xtreme Coatings polishes concrete using a multi-step diamond tooling process that takes the surface from the initial grind profile through medium and fine grits to produce a consistent finish level across the full slab. The final sheen level, from a low-luster matte to a high-gloss reflective finish, is specified based on the use conditions of the space and the client's preference.

Polished floors also benefit from a densifier applied during the polishing sequence. Densifiers react with the calcium silicate in the concrete to harden the surface and reduce porosity, which makes the finished floor more resistant to staining, moisture penetration, and surface wear.

Exterior Concrete Repair

Exterior concrete surfaces take more abuse than interior slabs. Freeze-thaw cycling, road salt exposure, vehicle loads, and UV degradation all work on exterior concrete year over year, and in central Minnesota, that cycle is more aggressive than in most parts of the country.
