Epoxy Base Coat Systems

Epoxy is the foundation of every floor coating system we install. A properly applied Sherwin-Williams epoxy system over a mechanically ground slab produces a hard, seamless, chemical-resistant surface that bonds at the pore level and holds up under the daily use that bare concrete cannot handle. Epoxy works in garages, basements, commercial kitchens, warehouses, light industrial spaces, and any environment where a durable, cleanable floor is the priority.

The bond quality of an epoxy floor depends almost entirely on surface preparation. Dustless diamond grinding removes surface laitance, old coatings, and contamination that prevent adhesion and open the concrete to the profile the epoxy needs to grip. That mechanical bond is what separates a floor that holds through a Minnesota winter from one that starts delaminating by spring.

Polyaspartic and Polyurea Topcoat Systems

Polyaspartic topcoats are applied over the epoxy base on all of our standard installs, and as a standalone system for projects that need the fastest cure time or the highest UV and abrasion resistance available. Ultra-Durable Technologies' polyaspartic products cure within hours rather than days, resist hot tire marks, handle chemical exposure, and do not yellow under UV the way standard epoxy alone does over time.

Full Flake Systems

A full flake system covers the entire floor surface with Torginol vinyl flakes broadcast into the epoxy base coat at full saturation, then sealed under a clear polyaspartic topcoat. The result is a textured, non-slip surface that conceals minor imperfections in the concrete, provides grip for wet vehicles pulling in from Minnesota rain and snow, and wears well under both foot traffic and vehicle loads.

Full flake is the finish we install most often for residential garages across the state. Torginol's flake color library is broad enough to work with nearly any aesthetic, and the textured surface makes scuffs and minor marks far less visible between cleanings than a solid floor.

Partial Flake Systems

A partial flake system uses a lower broadcast density, leaving areas of the solid base coat visible between the flakes. The effect is a more subtle, speckled finish that works well in basements, laundry rooms, retail floors, and commercial spaces where some decorative texture is preferred but a fully covered look would be too visually heavy.

Partial flake carries the same structural performance as a full flake system. The difference is aesthetic, and it gives clients who want a cleaner or more understated result a middle option between a plain solid color and a full decorative floor.

Solid Color Epoxy Coatings

Solid color epoxy coatings are the clean, functional option for spaces where performance matters more than decoration. A single-color floor is easy to maintain, reflects light well, and creates a sharp, professional appearance in commercial spaces, warehouses, retail floors, auto shops, and home workshops.

Metallic Coatings

Metallic epoxy coatings use pigmented metallic powders suspended in the epoxy layer to create a fluid, three-dimensional visual effect that is unique to every floor. No two metallic installs look alike. The finish is high-gloss and visually striking, and it works well in showrooms, retail spaces, restaurants, home bars, studios, and any space where the floor is a design feature rather than just a surface.

The technique requires hands-on skill to manipulate the pigment while the epoxy is workable, producing the movement and depth that make the finish visually distinct. The metallic layer is sealed under a polyaspartic topcoat from Ultra-Durable Technologies for long-term durability and easy maintenance.
