Premium Floor Coatings Built For Real Life

A bare concrete floor, deteriorating, or coated with something that has already started to fail, is a problem that gets more expensive the longer it goes untreated. Epoxy flooring in Minnesota, installed by a flooring contractor that prepares the surface correctly and uses materials specified for professional installation, is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect a slab, transform a space, and add a finish that holds up through real use and real winters.

Xtreme Coatings is based in Milaca and travels up to a 200-mile radius to serve homeowners and businesses across the state. We regularly work in St. Cloud, Brainerd, the Twin Cities, Duluth, Rochester, and the communities throughout central and greater Minnesota. Every install starts with dustless diamond grinding to open the concrete so coatings bond at the mechanical level rather than sitting on a surface that was never properly prepared to receive them. We use Sherwin-Williams epoxy systems, Torginol decorative flakes, and Ultra-Durable Technologies polyaspartic and polyurea topcoats on every project, and most installs are complete within two days.

We offer four finish systems across our epoxy and polyaspartic lineup: full and partial flake, solid color, and metallic decorative coatings. Whether you need a tough garage floor in the Twin Cities, a showroom-quality metallic finish in Duluth, or a clean, solid color system for a commercial space near Rochester, we build the system around your slab, your use case, and your timeline.

Statewide Systems

Epoxy and polyaspartic floor systems are the two primary coating categories we install across Minnesota, and most projects use both in combination: an epoxy base coat for build and bond strength, and a polyaspartic or polyurea topcoat for UV resistance, chemical resistance, and fast cure time.

Epoxy base coat installation over mechanically ground slab

Epoxy Base Coat Systems

Epoxy is the foundation of every floor coating system we install. A properly applied Sherwin-Williams epoxy system over a mechanically ground slab produces a hard, seamless, chemical-resistant surface that bonds at the pore level and holds up under the daily use that bare concrete cannot handle. Epoxy works in garages, basements, commercial kitchens, warehouses, light industrial spaces, and any environment where a durable, cleanable floor is the priority.

The bond quality of an epoxy floor depends almost entirely on surface preparation. Dustless diamond grinding removes surface laitance, old coatings, and contamination that prevent adhesion and open the concrete to the profile the epoxy needs to grip. That mechanical bond is what separates a floor that holds through a Minnesota winter from one that starts delaminating by spring.

High-gloss polyaspartic topcoat applied over a commercial concrete floor

Polyaspartic and Polyurea Topcoat Systems

Polyaspartic topcoats are applied over the epoxy base on all of our standard installs, and as a standalone system for projects that need the fastest cure time or the highest UV and abrasion resistance available. Ultra-Durable Technologies' polyaspartic products cure within hours rather than days, resist hot tire marks, handle chemical exposure, and do not yellow under UV the way standard epoxy alone does over time.

For commercial floors that need to be back in service fast, or residential garages and workshops with demanding use conditions, a full polyaspartic system is the right specification. The 2-day install timeline we offer across Minnesota works specifically because polyaspartic products cure on a schedule that fits within that window, even on larger commercial slabs.

A commercial client near Brainerd needed their warehouse floor operational within 48 hours of project start. We specified a full polyaspartic system, ground and prepped the slab on day one, applied the coating on day two, and they were back in operation on schedule with zero callbacks.

Full flake epoxy system broadcasted heavily into a residential garage floor

Full Flake Systems

A full flake system covers the entire floor surface with Torginol vinyl flakes broadcast into the epoxy base coat at full saturation, then sealed under a clear polyaspartic topcoat. The result is a textured, non-slip surface that conceals minor imperfections in the concrete, provides grip for wet vehicles pulling in from Minnesota rain and snow, and wears well under both foot traffic and vehicle loads.

Full flake is the finish we install most often for residential garages across the state. Torginol's flake color library is broad enough to work with nearly any aesthetic, and the textured surface makes scuffs and minor marks far less visible between cleanings than a solid floor.

Partial flake epoxy floor applied in a basement setting

Partial Flake Systems

A partial flake system uses a lower broadcast density, leaving areas of the solid base coat visible between the flakes. The effect is a more subtle, speckled finish that works well in basements, laundry rooms, retail floors, and commercial spaces where some decorative texture is preferred but a fully covered look would be too visually heavy.

Partial flake carries the same structural performance as a full flake system. The difference is aesthetic, and it gives clients who want a cleaner or more understated result a middle option between a plain solid color and a full decorative floor.

Solid color epoxy coating applied to a clean commercial workshop floor

Solid Color Epoxy Coatings

Solid color epoxy coatings are the clean, functional option for spaces where performance matters more than decoration. A single-color floor is easy to maintain, reflects light well, and creates a sharp, professional appearance in commercial spaces, warehouses, retail floors, auto shops, and home workshops.

Xtreme Coatings installs solid color floors using the full Sherwin-Williams epoxy color range, followed by a polyaspartic topcoat on every project. The prep and topcoat process is identical to our decorative systems, so the durability is the same regardless of whether the finished floor is gray, white, tan, or any other color from the lineup.

Solid color floors are also the practical choice for clients who want a finished, professional-looking slab without the visual complexity of a flake or metallic system. They show dust and debris clearly, which matters in work environments where floor cleanliness is part of the daily routine, and they photograph cleanly for commercial and retail spaces that need a polished presentation.

For grinding and polishing work on bare concrete surfaces, see our concrete polishing page.

Metallic epoxy floor coating with fluid 3D visual effects

Metallic Coatings

Metallic epoxy coatings use pigmented metallic powders suspended in the epoxy layer to create a fluid, three-dimensional visual effect that is unique to every floor. No two metallic installs look alike. The finish is high-gloss and visually striking, and it works well in showrooms, retail spaces, restaurants, home bars, studios, and any space where the floor is a design feature rather than just a surface.

Xtreme Coatings uses Torginol metallic and decorative systems on all metallic installs. The technique requires hands-on skill to manipulate the pigment while the epoxy is workable, producing the movement and depth that make the finish visually distinct. The metallic layer is sealed under a polyaspartic topcoat from Ultra-Durable Technologies for long-term durability and easy maintenance.

Metallic floors have grown in popularity in commercial spaces across Minnesota, particularly in the Twin Cities, where retail and hospitality clients want a floor that contributes to the design of the space rather than sitting neutrally beneath everything else. We have installed Torginol metallic systems in showrooms, boutique retail environments, and residential entertainment spaces across the state.
